Problem Note 61659: Code execution fails with "ERROR: The HADOOP table...already exists, or there is a name conflict with an existing object..."

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

SAS® Data Integration Studio jobs that contain a Hive transformation fail when you execute them if the following conditions are true:

  • A target table being referenced on the HiveQL tab under properties for the Hive transformation physically exists in the Hive library.
  • The Delete target table option for this target table is set to No.

The failure occurs because SAS Data Integration Studio generates a CREATE TABLE statement for this target table even though the table already exists. This results in the following error because you cannot create a table that already exists:

ERROR: The HADOOP table <TableName> has been opened for OUTPUT. This table already exists, or there is a name conflict with an existing object. This table will not be replaced. This engine does not support the REPLACE option.

The workaround for this issue is to override automatic code generation for the Hive transformation. Then, edit the code to remove the unwanted CREATE TABLE statement.
